Friday, May 24, 2019 Move to Monticello, UT

It was a little sad to leave Page, AZ, but I think we covered most everything they had to offer. We will certainly return again someday and we will probably want to see all of the same things again.

Today's drive took us east across Arizona on highway 98 to highway 160 before heading north into Monticello (pronounced Montisello), Utah, on highway 191. Monument Valley was to our north on highway 163, which was not recommended for trucks so I opted for the safer route. We did see some interesting geologic oddities and Joani snapped a few pictures on the move.

We saw these beautiful snow capped beauties in front of us as we headed north. Joani reminded me our next park was named Mountain View RV Park and, sure enough, our home for the next three days was aptly named!

The Abajo Mountains are known locally as the Blue Mountains.

We have learned to ask a local how their town's name is pronounced. Monticello is pronounced with a soft C.

Monticello is a great home base for visiting Canyonlands National Park Needles District. We should have time for a return visit if the weather permits.
