Thursday, May 23, 2019 Parting Shots, Page, AZ

Today was our last day in Page, AZ. The day started out overcast with a little rain but it soon cleared up a bit and we decided to get out one more time.

The drive out of the park always provided us with beautiful views and today was no exception. I especially loved the light play on Tower Butte.

We had to visit Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant one more time for the lunch special, Colorado burrito (as it turned out, the restaurant is a chain and we will be looking for them in the future.)

Afterward, we visited the Chains Trail across the river from the Carl Hayden Visitor Center again. This time we explored higher grounds away from the water. We just wandered about for an hour or so snapping pictures of whatever struck our fancy. Some of those shots are included below in no particular order.

The rocks that lay upon the Navajo sandstone look like waxed leather. The sand and wind have given them an odd burnish that makes them look like they have been dipped in wax.

Tower Butte played peek-a-boo with the sun and clouds all day.

The clouds would take on a red hue at times. I assume at the proper angle the red rocks are being reflected or is it red dust making up the cloud.
