Wednesday, May 14, 2014, Salt Lake Airport Goodbye to Kate, Salt Lake City, UT

Today was all about driving to the Salt Lake Airport in Salt Lake City, UT. To get Katie to the airport for a 10:15 flight home, we set the alarm for 2:00 am. I guess everyone was a little nervous trusting the alarm and nobody slept very soundly. I got up at 1:15 and said: "let's leave now." The car was loaded and we were off by 2:00. Of course, once we hit the road, Joani, Kate and Sam were sound asleep.

I woke them all up at 6:30 for a hardy breakfast at Carl's Jr. Across the street, there was a Mimi's restaurant where we picked up some of their delicious muffins (a freebie we couldn't pass up) and then it was off to the airport. We really hated to say good-bye, but we know she is missed at home, too.

I miss you already!

Through the gauntlet - remove the shoes, open the laptop, inspect the bags, through the metal detector and off she went.

Before heading back to the coach, we stopped in several stores - Costco, Walmart, the Dollar Store and PetCo to stock up on the essentials. We got back home about the same time Kate reached Atlanta (and she had a 3-hour layover in Denver.) She called to let us know everything went smoothly, so Joani could relax for the evening. It was great fun to have you with us, Katie!
