Finally, the big day - we crossed the Mighty Mac to reach the Upper Peninsula, or UP. We were no longer trolls we could now claim yooper status. I knew the bridge would support our 16 ton home on wheels because I had seen trucks rolling across that had to be many times our weight, still, it was a bit freaky being more than two hundred feet above the water.
The steel superstructure will support one ton per linear foot per roadway (northbound or southbound)
Another huge casino parking area - this time with both water and 50 amp electricity ($15/night). Inside we learned Wednesday is "Seniors Day" so the all-you-can-eat soup, salad and dessert bar was just $5.95. Who could pass that up? After eating we gambled with free house money and won enough to pay for our lunch - does it get any better than that? In fact, it did. They also let me use the pool and spa.
Sam got his exercise in with a walk around the casino to the shore of Lake Huron. We had some pretty heavy rain just after we arrived in the morning, so it was surprising just how nice the afternoon turned out to be. We are learning the weather can change pretty quickly in Michigan, so you can't tell much about the day ahead from what you see in the morning.
The huge window is the casino lobby and it overlooks Lake Huron.
