A fairly short drive today from San Antonio to Georgetown, TX just north of Austin. Almost the entire 121.3 mile trip (72,769.2 miles total) was on Interstate 35. Navigation was made a challenge because there were so many lane choices. Most exits went to the right like you would expect, but some went to the left and you never knew when your lane would all of a sudden become an "exit only" lane.
It seems like almost all Texas freeways (and tollways) are accompanied by one-way access roads on each side. The access roads have a 50 mph speed limit with a short ramp to get up to 70 mph on the expressway. Most everyone pushes the limit and has little patience with confused out-of-towners. You also find a lot of businesses along the access roads, so you pull into 50 mph traffic from the grocery store and restaurant parking lots.
We made it to our new park, East View RV Ranch, with no problems. It was just outside of the Georgetown city limits and very rural. We heard cows instead of the usual trains or air traffic.
Another first for us was a covered site. I'm sure it is well worth the extra few bucks when the sun is beating down in the summer. What it meant for us was no more excuses for not cleaning and waxing the coach.
