The road to New Harmony, UT, (heading west and up a rise) provides views (when you look back) of the beautiful peaks in Kolob Canyons that cannot be seen from the Interstate.
The interstate is so close to the foothills that they block the view of the peaks.
The clouds were far from perfect and we were still a little early for the best sunset lighting, but you can't blame us for taking another batch of pictures of the same old canyons.
The day brought one new element to our compositions - moon rise. The moon was three days from full and was just peeking over the mountains. As you will see, I made the most of the opportunity and tried to get the moon in most of my shots.
The wind was blowing my camera and tripod around, so on long telephoto shots, I had to wait for a lull in the wind.
The south fork of Taylor Creek runs up this canyon (below). Our neighbors, Garry and Kathryn, told us about a very nice hike along an "unofficial" trail that we have put on our list to complete before leaving.
