Tuesday, April 22, 2014, Pick Up Kate in Salt Lake City, Temple Hill Resort in Manti, UT

Temple Hill Resort in Manit, UT, used to be a Jellystone Park with Yogi Bear as their mascot. He is still there to greet campers and pose for pictures. We did not do much in Manti other than fret about the refrigerator and wait for Katie's flight to arrive.

This Mormon Temple, as you might have guessed from the name of the campground, is up on the hill from the campground. It is not more than a quarter mile, so Sam and I walked by it several times during our stay.

We headed for Salt Lake City a few hours early with a pretty sizable list of things to see and do before getting to the airport. On-line, Joani found the perfect size residential refrigerator (Fisher-Paykel RF170ADX4) to replace our Norcold gas absorption refrigerator, but after trying three places it was clear we would not get to see one without ordering it. We stalled a bit at IKEA and had a small lunch then headed to the airport.

The weather was turning ugly - wind gusts over 60 mph! There was blowing sand and dust that made the area look like it was cloaked in fog. I gather this situation is not all that uncommon for Utah. Definitely a strike against the area as a candidate for a home base.

Katie's plane was only a few minutes late, but finally, there she was coming down the ramp and the tearful reunion commenced.

My baby girl made it safe and sound.

The drive to Manti was sans mountain view, thanks to the sand storm.
