Monday, January 7, through Monday, January 14, 2019, Sunflower RV Resort

Just to summarize our experience at Sunflower RV Resort - this park has so much potential we would be happy to stay here again. Although our time was limited we enjoyed our stay very much. Another CalAm park, Sunflower was amenity rich with so much to offer it was easy to lose track of the days and our week slipped by so quickly. Any dining or shopping option you could name was somewhere along the burgeoning Bell Road just a quarter mile from the resort entrance.

The view out our front window was nice, looking directly towards the Agua Fria River. It was more than a quarter mile to the opposite bank. I kept watch for coyotes but never saw one. I did see just a little bit of water flowing one morning after some rain. It all soaked into the sand a few hours after sunrise.

Luke Air Force Base was nearby. That was obvious due to the sound of jets zooming close overhead. I tried to identify the aircraft and finally caught one in a picture. That's a Joint Strike Fighter below, also known as the F-35 Lightning. I felt a little connection knowing the pilot was controlling things through the touch screen LCD display that my old company designed and manufactured.

Joani caught me exiting one of my favorite places in the park. The steam was so relaxing - it was nearly addicting.

Following vendor day in the park, someone decided to share their candied popcorn with the California Quail. In fact, we saw quite a few plump quail that figured out the residents were an easy touch for handouts.

Our last night was spent at the Tiki bar. We were not the only ones to take advantage of the Monday night margarita special and happy hour prices that did kind of make you happy. I left the table for the overview shot below.

Sue and Terry (friends we met several years ago through RVillage) and Joani continued discussing our respective RV adventures without me as I visited one of the upper decks for pictures.

Happy hour was long gone and the air grew quite cool after the sun set, but an abundance of propane area heaters kept the chill away as we continued to imbibe into the evening.

Overall, we had a very favorable impression of Sunflower and would be happy to return someday.
