Loren wanted to show me his new toy - a side-by-side four-wheeler he named the "CamoCat". It was named for the unique paint scheme that made the name obvious. The CamoCat was quite a piece of engineering. I'd bet half of its weight was in the suspension. Each wheel must have had at least 12 inches of independent travel.
The desert behind North Ranch was riddled with primitive roads that rarely ever saw any kind of maintenance. As a result, there were some pretty challenging ruts and washes that you could never even attempt in any lesser vehicle but the CamoCat tamed them all with ease.
A stop along the way far from civilization allowed us to soak in the desert experience without worry about making our way back. We had the perfect weather, warm with a slight breeze, to enjoy the solitude and quiet of the desert environment.
I guess it's all about location - if North Ranch were near a lake everyone would have a boat. If it were up north everyone would have a snowmobile. Since it is in the desert, most everyone in the park has a four-wheeler. I suspect if we ever bought a lot here I would join the majority and have one of my own to join in on all of the fun.
