Monday, August 19, 2013, Hoh Rainforest, Olympic National Park After Moving to Forks, WA

We found our mail had arrived (first time that we use our mail forwarding service), so Joani made some quick reservations in Forks, WA, and we were off. It was a pretty short drive to Forks - 58.9 miles (3,919.4 trip/63,400.5 total) along US-101. Once we were settled in we drove about 30 miles to the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center. We practically ran through the Hall of Mosses (0.8-mile loop trail) to finish before it was too dark. It was not late - the forest was just so thick it filtered the light!

Branches look as if they are covered in green velvet.

Next tree pictures show trees growing on a nurse log.

All that you see is submerged in a clear stream.

A moss-covered stand of Red Alder.

The sun was getting low.  Time to call it a day!
