It was a pretty day, so we decided to visit Olympia, WA, again. Our first stop was Priest Point Park on Puget Sound. With its huge trees and dense undergrowth, it seemed to be closer to wilderness than a city park. The trails were very hilly and led right down to the water. A few miles of walking in the park felt like a pretty good work-out.
Trees are very BIG around here!
Whoa, low tide!
Sometimes we just drive around randomly and see what we can find. We only use the map to find our way back when we get lost. We happened upon a farmers market down in the port area. It was pretty popular with the locals. It was a nice area that appeared to be new or freshly renovated. A garden had a nice variety of well-identified plants and flowers.
Salsa dancing demo (video upon request).
A living wreath - what a great idea!
View the harbor from 3 floors up.
David says this is next. (he's dreaming)
Again, low tide!
Joani was fascinated by this building - Sam and I waited across the street in the park while she took a few hundred pictures. I think she got some good ones!
Built in 1890-1892 as the Thurston County Courthouse, and served 1905-1928 as the State Capitol.
I love the detail, but this requires a stonemason with a sense of humor!
We got back to the coach early enough for me to wash and wax the Honda - I know! - what got into me? I used the waterless wash we got at the last FMCA rally. Once I got started I just kept going. I really don't expect a clean and shiny car to become the norm, but it would be great if it did.
Later, our neighbors, Craig and Debbie, brought us some wild blackberries they had picked. They had recently retired and started traveling earlier this year, so we had something in common. We got to talking, had some wine and enjoyed several hours of great conversation. They invited us to stay with them when we get to southern California later this year. Hopefully, we can make that workout!
