We drove up to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center in Olympic National Park, WA. It was pretty overcast and a little on the cool side (note the sweatshirt and jeans). As mountain climbs go, this was pretty nice - not too curvy and a steady climb to over 5,000 feet. Of course, there were a lot of picture opportunities along the way, so with stops, the 15 miles took about 2 hours.
I had my tripod, so I could bracket some exposures for HDR processing. At times the wind was so strong, the tripod couldn't keep the camera from shaking, but I think I like the HDR results.
The Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center had a board identifying the peaks. Joani's panoramic shot matched it almost exactly!
You can see the glacial ice of "Carrie Glacier."
We got pretty much the same picture of Mt. Baker (elev. 10,778 ft) in the distance so you can see the difference between a "normal" shot and an HDR shot below.

Can you see the rain? In the far distance is Canada's snow-capped Mount Baker.
The array of wildflowers was unexpected!
David captured the clouds with this HDR shot.
I have to choose, mountains or clouds.
Gorgeous pictures!
