Just a hop from the Lincoln City Safeway was Road's End State Recreation Site. It was a convenient (and close) access to the beach where we waited for a sunset. Actually, I had no coat and the wind was cold, so Sam and I stayed warm at the overlook while Joani and Katie combed the beach.
With no cloud drama, the sunset had less impact. It was still pretty nice and well worth the wait. I was surprised at how many folks pulled up in cars a few minutes before the sun touched the horizon and stayed for no more than ten minutes. I suspect they were locals, new enough to the coast that they still enjoy a nice sunset.
