Friday, July 5, 2013, Return to Museum of the Rockies, Bozeman, MT

We went back to the Museum of the Rockies, Bozeman, MT, specifically to see the living history exhibit (we did not have time to explore it on our earlier visit). Since we arrived there just as the guided dinosaur walk began, we did that first. The docents were very knowledgeable regarding dinosaurs, which made it all the more interesting.

The clouds had a lot of drama, so I thought an HDR shot might be in order. I think this very accurately reflects the scene as we saw it.

The exhibit had probably a dozen people of all ages dressed in period clothing (1880-1890's) doing everyday tasks as authentically as they could. Women were baking gingerbread cookies in a wood-fired oven. Three young ladies were doing laundry with a tub and washboard.

An old man and his grandson were singing in the parlor and grandma was spinning wool into yarn upstairs. I opened the icebox to find an actual block of ice cooling the eggs that had been brought in from the chicken coop. I felt like they had done an excellent job of making everything authentic down to the last detail. It was very entertaining and informative. If you are ever in the area be sure to visit!

The "Barn Loom" is made from leftover beams after the barn has been raised.
It is huge and weighs a ton.

This little guy would fit nicely in my coach!

David admired their ingenuity.  An early chop saw.
