Moving day - we took US-191 from Bozeman, MT, to West Yellowstone (91.4 miles, 2,702.7 trip/ 62,183.8 total). Signs warned of delay due to construction, but the entire trip was clear. We never even had traffic behind us until just outside of West Yellowstone where we were stuck behind a travel trailer for the last mile of the trip. Couldn't help but compare this town to Gatlinburg at the entrance to the Smokies. This is not as cramped, but a lot of the same atmosphere. We stayed at Buffalo Crossing. The RV Park owner had an IMAX Theater, a large souvenir store and a BBQ shack (the camping came with discounts to everything there). We were settled in by 12:30 so we walked the town.
I find the T-shirts very entertaining.
Beautiful baskets were hanging all over town.
Our RV park is right next door to the Museum of the Yellowstone. We didn't have time to explore it, but outside there were some interesting vehicles.
We found out Pauline and Ray were still here and they invited us to have a cookout. It was a beautiful afternoon with sun and some breeze and temperatures in the high 70's. Perfect for a little wine and great conversation. Ray finished up the grilling just as it started to rain so we moved indoors. Real RV'ers never let the weather dampen the fun. Thanks, guys - hope to see you again soon!
