It is nice to be in a big city again (Boise, ID) with everything you need so close and handy! After running some errands, we visited Discovery Center in Boise, Idaho, a science museum on our ASTC list. We had our suspicions it would be a children's museum, but we went anyway. It had some amazing hands-on exhibits that the kids really seemed to enjoy. OK, maybe I had some fun, too.

Katie, we need to build one of these!! A spirograph on steroids.

Giant bubbles!  What's not to like?

 This was very cool!
Start all of the weights swinging at the same time and every 30 seconds they line up again for a second.

No problem building an arch when the blocks are all numbered!

Having fun in Idaho!

  1. Aw man, if Idaho can have an awesome hands-on science museum, why can't we have SciTrek back? The pendulum drawings look really neat. What's going on in that last picture?

    1. Can you see the rainbow-hued halo around my head? Silica crystal. Refraction. That's it.

This museum was huge. Three large warehouse sized rooms, each with little rooms off to the sides.

It never stated "children's museum", maybe because it is very interesting to adults, too. You just have to tolerate the noise from over excited kids (no problem). They do have an "adult night" once a month, but we missed that.

You should start a campaign to bring back SciTrek! (They need to put it in a better location, though.)
